25 Ways To Develop Your Mind, Soul And Body Everyday

25 Ways To Develop Your Mind, Soul And Body Everyday

After the roller-coaster of emotions that I experienced a while back, I wanted to focus on positive ways I could nurture myself. I wanted to think of specific ways that could, not only help me, but help others to develop their mind, soul and body. Last week, I found an amazing picture of a donut, and as I was staring at it, I realized something. We spend so much time focusing on outer appearances instead of what’s inside. Are we really just plain donuts covered in delicious decorations with nothing of substance on the inside? Do we spend too much of our time keeping up those appearances?

25 Ways To Develop Your Mind, Soul And Body

I believe we all have the chance to live a better life and to live a life of substance. So I thought, what better way to help us start this process than to give you guys 25 ways you can develop your mind, soul and body.

#1 THINK MORE HIGHLY OF YOURSELF

It is important to take the time to practice thinking good thoughts about yourself. A while back, I wrote about being good to yourself and a great way to do this is to compliment yourself often.

Are you an excellent artist? Did you just complete a difficult task? Congratulate yourself often and remind yourself of how bomb you really are. When you consistently strengthen your thoughts about yourself, it gradually increases your self-image.

#2 COMMIT TO READING A DIFFICULT BOOK

A great way to nourish your mind, soul and body is to lose yourself in an exciting novel. Everyday if you can commit to reading a book for at least 15 minutes, it helps you to relax.

I know, for me, after I’ve had a long day, a great way to care for myself is to unwind in front of a good book.

The hard part is reading a book I’ve avoided since high school because it looked too long and had too many words. You should challenge yourself though and expand your thoughts.

Go get that book that seems a bit too difficult and read it bit by bit until you’re done.

#3 WATER, WATER AND WATER

You’ve probably heard this a few times but I’m going to say it again. Every day drink lots and lots of water. I cannot tell you how different I feel when I’ve drunk my fill versus when I’m as thirsty as a puppy.

Drinking sodas and lots of juices filled with sugar actually dehydrates you more than you think. So as much as is possible, skip the carbonated stuff and chug some water! Be good to your body now!

#4 STOP HANGING AROUND TOXIC PEOPLE

In life there will always be people who are just as toxic as those chemicals scientists tell us not to use. If you have those kinds of people in your life who are forever bringing you down, get rid of them.

Toxic people do you and your mental health more harm than good. So give your mind, soul and body, a service, and realize that you’re better off without them.

#5 START BULLET JOURNALING

Whenever you’re feeling depressed, sad or just not feeling like yourself, how about writing your feelings down? A great way to nurture your mind and soul is to have a dialogue with yourself.

Journaling enables you to learn how to fully express your thoughts and desires more clearly. Plus, different kinds of journaling such as travel journals, help you to see the world through a different viewfinder.

#6 STOP READING GOSSIP MAGAZINES

Gossip, no matter how juicy it is at the time, is not good for your mental state. When you consume enough negative vibes, it starts to alter your mind, soul and body.

Soon you might even start seeing the world as the writers do, or creating gossip for the sake of it all. Do yourself a favour and just put them down.

#7 GET SOME SLEEP

Every night, make sure you give yourself enough time to properly rest your mind and body. You’ve used them all day doing jobs, running errands and reading this blog post, lol.

Be sure to be good to yourself and go to bed. Better yet, when possible have a good long sleep in so you can have a few extra hours to help your body recuperate.

#8 LISTEN TO A MOTIVATIONAL PODCAST

Every day on my way to work, I used to listen to a great podcast. It was a fantastic way to start my day.  The more I listened to the words of encouragement and self-love, the more pumped I would feel and the more ready I was to take on the day.

I encourage you to do the same. Find a great podcast and pop your headphones in as you commute to work or have it play in the car as you drive!

#9 STRENGTHEN YOURSELF

Most of us are used to taking the elevator or escalator in most buildings or shopping malls. Instead of doing what you normally do, take the stairs.

It might seem super simple, but over time you will start to see a noticeable difference in your physical health as you extend your walks each day.

#10 GIVE OF YOUR TIME

Everyday, as much as is possible, volunteer your time to help someone else. Do a good deed or act every single day. This can mean volunteering at a shelter, giving a compliment or saying a few kind words to strangers on the street.

You’ll start to realize that your outlook on life starts to change as you start seeing yourself as not being better than anyone, but being someone who is just as important as anyone else.

#11 INDULGE IN ART AND CREATIVITY

Have you ever been told that indulging in art is a fantastic way to nurture your mind, soul and body? When you take time to visit a museum, go through the collections and try to understand the pieces, it gives you a glimpse into the artist’s mind.

Viewing art is also a fantastic way to spark the creativity that might be hidden inside. You never know. You might just start your very own art collection or take on a creative hobby.

#12 BALANCE A BOOK ON YOUR HEAD FOR 5 MINS

A fantastic way to nurture and control your mind, body and soul is to practice self-discipline. This can be difficult for us to do because we enjoy our freedom and our minds don’t like being restrained.

For 5 minutes everyday, place a book on your head and stand perfectly still. The longer you do this, the more your mind and body will begin to fidget and wonder what’s going on.

By practicing self-discipline, you train your entire being and this can lead to fantastic changes in other areas of your life.

#13 REDUCE YOUR FAST FOOD INTAKE

The world that we live in is fast paced and everyone, because they’re so busy, heavily relies on fast food. Taking care of the whole being includes being mindful of what we put into our bodies.

Reduce your fast-food intake and try to cook more often. If you’re absolutely too busy, try your hand at meal planning.

I do this every weekend, and it saves me so much time every single week.

#14 PLAN A DAILY DATE WITH YOURSELF

For ten minutes every day, commit to spending time loving and doting on yourself. This can include meditation, self-affirmations or just doing something that makes you smile.

When you spend time loving yourself and practicing self-care, you’re nurturing your soul. When you nurture your soul, you create peace of mind.

#15 DO SOMETHING THAT SCARES YOU

One of the best ways to grow as a person is to try something that scares you. For me, one of my biggest fears was talking to new people I would meet on the street. One day, I just said to heck with it and tried to say hi to one new person every day.

It made such a difference! So go out there and do something that scares you and see what happens.

#16 SPEND TIME OUTDOORS

After work, or when you get a break, why not go for a walk outside. It’s a great way to get some exercise, breathe some fresh air and relax.

In this busy world, it is so difficult to find time for yourself so try to give yourself at least 10 minutes every day. It might seem like a small amount of time but it counts.

#17 DANCE LIKE NOBODY’S WATCHING

Music and dancing are great ways to just chill and forget everything else going on. When you dance, especially when you’re by yourself, it is just a fantastic feeling, a mix of excitement and fear.

Let go of any inhibitions you might be having and just let loose.

#18 PRACTICE GRATITUDE

Each day that you are alive is a reason to be thankful. Find time throughout your day to think about all the things that you’re grateful about.

You can also write them all down and really remind yourself of just how many amazing things you have going on for you.

Access my free resource library to get your very own Daily Gratitude Worksheet here.

#19 SLOW DOWN

As busy as you get in life, find the time to slow down and smell the roses. It’s always a good idea to rest and relax.

Take some time if you can, and put your electronics down and just enjoy the quiet things in life.

In addition to giving you time to rest, it gives you the time to think and meditate about where you are in your life and what’s most important.

#20 FORGIVE YESTERDAY’S MISTAKES

You might have made mistakes yesterday, and that’s okay. Once you wake up to a new day, forgive yourself of the mistakes that you made yesterday.

Mistakes are a part of life and if you’re afraid to make them then you will not be able to learn and grow.

#21 LAUGH AS MUCH AS YOU CAN

Never let anything in life or how busy you are in life prevent you from having fun and laughing as much as you can. Laughter is always the best medicine, and it can change your outlook on a situation completely.

Try your best to enjoy your life, smile, crack jokes and just have fun sometimes.

#22 LISTEN MORE, SPEAK LESS

As human beings, we really love talking and getting our point across. The problem is, because we’re forever speaking, our listening skills have suffered.

Challenge yourself to stop talking for a few minutes and just listen. Refrain from interrupting the other person and just let them speak.

Doing this really helps you to train your mind and ears to pay attention to what the person has to say and they’ll appreciate that you were actively listening to them (and not just waiting to butt in).

#23 SPEND A DAY WITH A CHILD

You probably know this, but children are some of the happiest and most amazing people you’ll ever meet. They are always ready to share their view of the world and are just filled with wonder.

Spending the day with them can have a wonderful impact on your overall being as their positivity and cheerfulness might just start to rub off on you.

#24 DETOX FROM SOCIAL MEDIA

Did you know that so many of us spend at least 80% of our day online? A great way to develop your mind, soul and body is to get step away from the cellphone, shut down the computer and just take a break from it all.

The online world feeds our need for acceptance and taking a break helps us to strengthen confidence in our self and helps us to understand that we don’t need approval from others in order for us to be happy.

You’d be surprised what you learn about yourself during a social media detox.

#25 SHARE YOUR FEELINGS ONLINE

Today was a rough day and I was feeling completely overwhelmed. The minute I wrote it all down and share my feelings with a few online friends, I started feeling so much better.

Sharing your feelings can be therapeutic and relieve so much stress and anxiety.

Plus there are also a number of online communities you can join where you can connect with others going through similar circumstances.

BONUS: PRAYER

I don’t know how I could have possibly forgotten this. I am so sorry. The number one way, in my opinion, that you can develop and nurture your mind, soul and body every day is to pray. Prayer changes so much in our lives.

Every morning, I pray and thank God that He woke me up and I have the chance to see another day. When you pray you are able to talk to someone who’s never too busy to listen and is always there to hear what you have to say.

When I pray to God, I instantly feel so much better and when it all feels like too much, I just open up my free line to Him and talk about everything. It’s like having a best friend around you twenty-four-seven.

Praying can also help us to clarify things within our mind. Suddenly, issues that seemed so difficult, are now easier to handle.

WORK YOUR WAY TO A BETTER YOU

When we take the time to develop our mind, feed our soul and nurture our body, the other areas of our life become a lot easier to handle. We start enjoying life more. Our relationships with others begin to change and life itself just seems that much brighter.

If you enjoyed these 25 ways to develop your mind, soul and body, then you will enjoy these reasons you should stop comparing yourself to others and focus on your own journey.

Love your post! Many of your points I already live by, but there have been some new to me. Will have to start implementing them.
Only point 5 is impossible… (most intoxicating person in my life is my mother in law since a few years…)
But if I stick to the others it will definitely outbalance the one

I think when it comes to her, the term kill em with kindness works well. Be kind to her and you never know what that might happen.
